Anthony Mackie Reveals If He’ll Follow in Chris Evans’ Footsteps & Become Avengers’ Leader Now That He’s Captain America

Anthony Mackie picked up Steve Rodger’s iconic shield and became Captain America in the final episodes of his Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. However, is his character Sam Wilson going to follow in Chris Evans‘ footsteps and lead the rest of the Avengers?

The 44-year-old Marvel Cinematic Universe star opened up about the chances of him taking on a leadership role in the new class of the Avengers during a recent interview.

“Sam is the only character without superpowers,” Anthony told Empire Magazine, according to ScreenRant.

“He’s just a regular dude hanging out with a bunch of weirdos. Being from New Orleans, I’ve been in a few fights. And heart and charisma never helped me in a fight. That usually just got me beat up. So that might cause an issue when you go fight somebody like Thanos,” he added.

It’s not totally clear who will make up the latest iteration of the Avengers. However, Phase 5 of the MCU started with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania earlier this month and features appearances from the likes of Brie Larson‘s Captain Marvel and the Guardians of the Galaxy.

While he isn’t a superpowered individual, Anthony previously revealed what gift Sam brought to the role.

Find out who joined Anthony in his first solo movieCaptain America: New World Order. The movie will feature a couple of other familiar faces, too. But will it feature Chris Evans again?
